I am so sick of the famous advice 'you should get a second opinion.'
No one trusts that this is a really hard decision to make. I am going to a surgeon to have my second tube removed because 4 - yes four - doctors think my tube looks diseased. One is the top fertility doc in the area.
I am so sick of the stories of 'it can happen naturally if you just go with the flow' (not possible if both my tubes are missing!) or the 'great, then you will start IVF and have your baby.'
Um, there is like a 60% chance it won't work the first time. Even if I had IVF 5 times, there is like a 10% chance it still won't work, and damn, that is a lot of shots.
My sister's response? Yeah, but that is for people with real fertility problems(!?!?! Like mine is not a real fertility problem?).
Sometimes I like those stories, but not today. Go away aweful people!!

I tell people that if they haven't been there then just keep your mouth shut and let me vent.... They have no clue! And yea it may have been easy for them but when you have to have a doctor be involved in some of the most intimate parts of your life you most certainly do feel like the world is crashing down. Those people don't understand that, and they don't understand the cost!

If that's not a "real" feritlity problem then what the hell is?! I am so sorry that you are going through this, and have to hear the naive things people say. It only makes it worse for us. Some days you'll be able to be hopeful about possibilities, but some days you deserve to just break down and let your true feelings out. If i'm venting to somebody and they decide to throw stupid things at me, I just blatantly say "well i guess I know not to talk to you about this anymore" or "i'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought this up to you" Then they get the hint that what they said is not appreciated and does NOT help the way you're feeling!
