I just wanted to let you gals know that this is an awesome, painless great way to increase fertility.
I started TTC in May 2009 and got pregnant one month after, mainly because for 1 year before trying I did acupuncture treatments for fertlity and endometriosis once a week.
I did miscarry and now we are trying again, but I really contribute my last pregnancy to doing acupuncture.

I am reading a book on conception and it said: In some countries before doctors will attempt fertility treatments, they make the patients attend 6 months of acupuncture and often it increases the rates of pregnancy by up to 65%~

Thought the idea might help.

Does it hurt? There is only 1 acupuncturist in town that isn't affiliated with a chiropractor. But my health insurance won't pay for it anyway...

None of my insurance pays for it at all...I spent over $2000 last year... but worth EVERY penny!

It is really not painful at all. On your hands or face you can sometimes feel a little prick when the needle goes in, but nothing like a blood test even!
Once the needles are in, you feel NOTHING. If you are afraid of needles, just don't look until they are removed.

I have definately been tossing this around. I have wanted to try it for years and now have a great reason to :)

BTW... does it specifically need to be a fertility specialist or will any accupuncturist work?

I have a friend who was TTC for a year. Mny of her hormones were abnormal. she got pregnant from gettng three months of accupuncture. I have PCOS and TTC .i am currently JUST seing an accupunctarist who wants to treat me with accupuncture and diet. Accupunture can help most ppl but not all depending on ur situation -i believe though that even if u are taking meds and/or getting IVF it can def. help the process along the way! TRY it!

Mine specializes in gyn problems, so knows how to work with women when TTC and pregnant. Try to find one who can, or at least, someone who is really trained.

I highly recommend it too! A close friend of mine used acupunture for her 2nd IVF and it worked! Now she has a beautiful 1 1/2 yr old baby boy. I'm also incoporating acupunture for my 2nd IVF. Come on BFP!!!

I am so glad you posted about this! I kid you not, my husband and I were just discussing this prior to my finding your post! We have been trying to conceive for a little over 19 months. We somehow got pregnant on our own right about the year mark but it ended in miscarriage. Unfortunately, our insurance now thinks we have no trouble getting pregnant and will not cover fertility treatment for another five months, a total of nine months post miscarriage. (The first three months after miscarriage do not count and then you have to wait six more months after that.) I am turning 39 this week so I am definitely feeling a ticking clock. Hence, the discussion my husband and I were having about accupuncture. How do we go about finding a good, reputable accupuncturist?

I found mine through a friend.
Ask anyone you know, or if you can, find naturopathic clinics that are big or well respected and ask them.
