Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group
Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
TN, not officially diagnosed , but very obvious to me as I read about TN, My Dr said the same . What I read online ,I could have written it.
Only since mid jan, 15 have I noticed tn, small bursts not thinking about it. two weeks later a major attack drying my hair, seems it would not stop. Finally after a minute it did. That is when I typed on google facial nerve pain.
Since the first episode I have been gentle, then two weeks later for two and a half day major attacks, I believe lasting up to 4 minutes. I read of TN1, and TN2 seems I have both at the same time. Driving 80mph and an attack comes on, definatly makes a man out of you to keep our wits!
I had two days of minor purges , and now, everyday, major purges ,with at least two major, but not lasting up to 4 minutes, maybe only a minute at the most.
Mine is right side of face from my upper teeth, into my forehead, even higher, major discomfort around my right eye,
I am totally new to this wondering where it could have come from?.
I have my thoughts on that as , headaches , neck , shoulder, back pain.
It seems totally ridiculous. what simple movements touches ,eating, blowing nose, putting a hat on , even laying on the right side to sleep.....
Some meds Now, Gabapentin, which the DR prescribed last Fall for other pain. Tests being done to rule out other diseases.
This certainly takes fun out of life!

This disease is different for everyone. If you haven't been to a neurologist, that would be my first suggestion. If so, we all have different types of TN and medications that work for all of us. I take Carbemazepine generic to Tegretol and Baclofen. I'm now out of work and gone down the rabbit hole. I try to keep positive but the triggers are all over the place. I have ATN which is 24/7 pain it doesn't stop. The medications work but they change everything about you.. My Neurologist advised against surgery as long as the medications work. If I get a strike I normally put pressure below my temple before my ear canal and I can feel a throbbing there that helps me. For you it may be a different area. I also get migraines and occular migraines around my eye from TN. It takes some getting use to but for me I had to go through the stages of acceptance. I hope my babble was able to help a little... there is a book called striking back that is helpful... Good luck hope today was better than yesterday.
