Yes, drowsiness is a normal side effect. As with all of these drugs, some of the side effects last just a couple, or few days and then go away and you can go on with the med. Then there are those that fall into the never can tolerate. For me, Trileptal was a never can tolerate. I couldn't ever get past the side effects. Good luck! Barrie
