not familiar with this medication. extreme itching, you are reacting to this med are you? i would buzz the dr to make sure your aren't and at the very least give you something for the itching if this is a side effect.
the meds that help me are a combination of neurotin, lortab and a beta blocker. sometimes i also take advil i think it helps with inflammation. this condition is so odd because what helps one doesn't work the next person. the other things that help are rest and avoiding the triggers and my mcs implant. blessings for you to find the right combination for you.

Well it has now been 7 weeks on Lamotrigene. This has worked wonderfully. My constant pain has been reduced to a few episodes a day. The sharp, stabbing pain that was occuring on a regular basis has been reduced to about 6 incidents in a day and even then the pain is allot less. I am only on 200mg per day and the Doctor says that I can go as high as 400mg. Because my pain has lessened I will try to stay at 200mg unless the pain increases again. The initial side effect of itching has gone away and I don't have any of the side effects that I was getting with Tegretol or Bacafin.
For all those that have tried the other meds with no success ask your doctor if this is an option to help you.
It is such a good feeling to be functional again.
Here hoping that everyone finds their own relief.

Just started week 2 of Lamictal and going to wean off Tegretol... I guess I will know better how the Lamictal works once I get off the Tegretol, ;) I have to say I am a little worried because it is finally getting cold and I am having some "irritation" of my trigeminal nerve right now, with me taking both of the meds... So I worry how it will be once I'm off the Tegretol.

Was on lamotrigine two days before I had to stop as I developed a rash. Important to remember with this med that if you develop a rash stop taking this immediately, don't mess about.

I have taken almost everything there is...nothing works. My FB was caused by a brain tumor on the 5th nerve. It caused a lot of damage which can not be repaired. When they did the gamma knife before the tumor was removed, it caused it to triple in size. I was left with no balance, deafness, and numbness on one side...just lucky I guess!

Hello I started this med about 8 weeks ago in a effort to get rid of gabapentin, which I hate because of weight gain. I was doing well and weaning the gabapentin but now think the disease is ramping up and I have developed new numbness and have to take both drugs to avoid shocks
