Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.

Glycerol injections

Has anyone had the glycerol injections for TN pain?

I did have glycerol injection on Sept. 25. My neurosurgeon said that he would have liked for me to get instant relief, but I didn't. I do not have the terrible shocking pain, but I get occasional jabs. My face is still numb, which is not really a problem, just annoying.

The procedure itself was fine except for pain in the head during recovery where they had blown in air to make sure they are putting the injection in the right place. Recovery room people kept the pain to a minimum.

Please let me know if you have the procedure. I may re-do.
