Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group
Trigeminal neuralgia, or Tic Douloureux, is a neuropathic disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes episodes of intense pain in the eyes, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, and jaw. Trigeminal neuralgia is considered by many to be among the most painful of conditions.
Does anyone live close to Louisville KY who knows a good neur. Dr. The one I had I did not like took to long to ifnd the right meds...and slow about calling you back he took weeks!
I'm on tegretol (brand name) and my family Dr is taking care of me I have been dealing with this attack for a month or so. Last yr it went from June till middle of Nov. till the pain stop....Can anyone help

This is a hard quest. Your current neurologist should not take that long to get results and medicine to you.
My only suggestion would be to ask your primary care physician if he knows another neurologist in your area. You should be able to call them to schedule an interview appointment with them to ask if they are familiar with TN and prompt with their paperwork prior to your decision to be their patient. It's not easy to get a perfect doctor patient relationship the first time around. Don't worry you won't hurt the doctors feelings it's your decision to see them and you need to be treated well. I do not live close to Louisville KY, but I had a similar situation. I come from a family of TN users, but all who are at least 20 years older than I and I wanted a Neurologist that was more up to date on TN, the medications etc. My local primary Dr. gave me my medication but was not that familiar with TN , so he told me if I found a Neurologist I would like to see he would set me up the appointment with him. I live outside of Dallas, TX so I started researching the internet. The first Neurologist I decided to see I was not pleased with so I researched on the internet and found the Texas TN association. They were two of the most helpful ladies and were located in the Dallas -Ft. Worth area. They were able to help me a lot, I wanted to see, by then a Neurosurgeon and they gave me the names of several very good ones. After meeting my Neurosurgeon I was very pleased and confident in him.
