I've been on medication since July 09 and it works for me. I have of course given up parts of my life; Driving, Working and Short term memory loss. I
was at a family event and my Sister said to me " Why don't you just have MVD surgery and get it over with." I thought I was going to lose it. I told her about the risks and every thing I said to her she would reply I would still get it. How can you explain this to people to make them understand? I was about to cry so I got up went to the bathroom to compose myself. Any suggestions?

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. The reason is because you can only change the way you view the situation, and not how others see it. I had to learn that I could use simple, short, sweet words to handle the questions made by those who have never suffered the pain of trigeminal neuralgia.
I am fortunate in that I learned how to deal with this from childhood, as I have hearing loss, speech impediment and so the jaw pain is easy to work with-I tell people, imagine wanting to rip your jaw out and knowing that the pain would still be there.
Hope this helps. You are not alone.
