trichotillomania and memory loss

Hi. I just recently came across various articles that discussed how Trichotillomania may cause memory problems. I have for a very long time noticed memory issues with myself but thought i was just simply a "forgetful person." Now I am wondering if this may be related to my trich. I was wondering if anyone else felt they had memory issues as well, or if anyone has talked to a doctor or therapist that has talked about memory function in relation to OCD or anxiety disorders or trich specifically.

I do have memory issues, but mine has been attributed to my fibromyalgia....
I'm curious where you found this article...this is the first I have personally heard about it.

well i first found an article (though i wasnt sure how reliable the site) at http://www.anxietyguru.net/can-anxiety-disorders-cause-memory-loss/ ....which basically says that anxiety leads to increase cortisol levels which affect memory function. This made me think that since Trich and OCD are anxiety related that maybe my trich was affect MY memory, so I did some google searches of "trichotillomania and memory" and found various articles that discussed their relationship but nothing particularly conclusive. This is why I was wondering if anyone else had personal experience with this.

Oh really? That's very interesting! I have had many memory problems starting for a couple years now! So that definitely explains a lot. I was always wondering why I was so forgetful. I thought it was maybe because I just didn't care, ha ha.

oh wow. i have had bad memory problems for a while now. and i have trich and ocd.. etc. hmm.. very interesting connection
