Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling) Support Group
Impulsive control disorder is the inability to resist an urge, temptation, or impulse, even when it may cause negative effects to the self or to others. If you or a loved one suffers from impulsive contorl disorder, join the community to find support and share your challenges with others who know what you're going through.
Set small goals like not pulling for a minute, or not pulling for a tv show. Big goals are too intimidating for most people!
But mostly, accepting that trich is a medical condition, and that you shouldn't be mad at yourself if you do pull.
How fortunate that you have found support here! Have you heard of "thumb cots"? You can find them at drug stores, etc and are relatively inexpensive
. They are rubber finger/ thumb coverings made for people who work with their hands a lot. Massage therapists, for instance, use them when they have cuts on their fingers so they can keep working (the cots protect the open places from infection). Anyway, they are less conspicuous than band-aids, don't slip off. Try these.
Hope that this is helpful
