This past year, I switched to a new salon. The 1st time I met my colorist, I sat in the chair and said "ya know, first off, just to get it out of the way, i'm a nervous hair puller, so that explains what's going on, ontop of my head". I said the same thing to my hair stylist. Honestly, I'm so glad I did say something - i no longer dread the salon (as much), and I don't live in fear that someone is going to say something. They were all so understanding, and brushed it off like it was no big deal. My colorist even opened up about a skin picking problem she had!
Honestly, the last time I got a haircut was about 12 years ago. I asked my stepmom to tell the stylist to just not say a single word about my bald patch, and he didn't. Probably not the best way to do it, but it worked at the time! My mom humiliated me at the haircut before that one so I am pretty much scarred for life on going to the stylist. Maybe one day... :)
Stronger, you're a brave one!! That's sooo amazing that you did that!
you too, confident!
So, why is it that we should feel so embarrassed to speak about our medical condition? Its not like we want to have trich... its something that we just got... So why should we be embarrassed? And if anyone should understand, hair-dressers should.. because they see all kinds of hair all the time!
I think we should start a revolution.....
THE TRICH IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE EMBARRASSED AND ASHAMED ABOUT REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!
Cos it's NOT something to be ashamed about.
