Hair growing back, and other stuf...PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi everybody! I have been completely pull free for about 8 days now, and I am positive that this is it. It just feels like something is different this time, you know? I have this feeling in my gut that I will reach my goal, as long as I am using my strategies. Over the past week, I have only had the urge one time, and I just put on my gloves and thought of my goal.
Anyways, I had two questions. Firstly, has anyone felt that way before? Like you knew you would be able to stop pulling, even if you had been pulling non-stop for 20 years? If so, how did it end up? Did you reach your goal, or just end up disappointed?
Next, from your experience, how long does it take to grow back a full set of brows, starting from being bare? What about bald spots on your head? How long does it take until they are covered, but not completely grown out?
I have been worried that even if I stop pulling, my hair would not growback because I've been pulling for 5 or 6 years.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I don't think that I will ever be completely pull free, but sometimes I feel like I can actually accomplish...something, lol.
Sometimes I quit pulling just because I have no more eyelashes to pull out, and I've made my eyes all swollen and gross and sore again.
Those are the times when I always start pulling again, I feel like I didn't really TRY to quit...I'll wear my gloves to bed, but then I'll just take them back off because I want to pull so badly.
But sometimes I go through phases where it feels different, and I feel like I don't even WANT to pull. Even when the itch is there, I KNOW I don't want to ruin all of my hard work. Those are the times I manage to grow back some eyelashes for a few months and it's amazing.
anyway, i'm sure your hair will grow back. i've been pulling out my eyelashes for ten (plus) years and they have grown back every time.
When i grew back my eyebrows it took me a whole summer, so i'd say three months probably to go from being completely bare to having enough that i didn't need to draw them on or fill them in with makeup.
i've never been much of a head hair puller, but i would assume about the same length of time, but probably longer to get it to grow as long as the rest of your hair that you didn't pull. occasionally my trich gets so bad that i pull a little patch from the crown of my head and have a bald spot, but i have almost perpetual flyaway hair right there because the rest of my hair is just so long that it takes that spot FOREVER to grow back and blend in with the rest. and before that happens i usually pull it back out anyways
good luck!
for your questions - everyone is different - for me eyelashes took very little time to grow in about a month max but sometimes just a week. eyebrows are hit and miss - they don;'t grow the wy the used to and I probably only pulled the 3 or 4 times. head hair I have been pull free 3 months now and there are no bald spots - some slight thiness in worst areas but I have coverage all over - I would say I had no bald spots noticeable in about a month of pull free - its amazing how much the hair can heal itself although the groth is slow - its happening!! Feel free to add me as a friend and my pics show the growth all the way from 0 days to 90 days xxx
I found DS at almost 49 yrs old and after a couple of weeks of reading the posts I felt strong enough to even attempt stopping -- something I had never considered before. The patch on my head that I had most recently been pulling has grown back nicely -- 2 inches in 3.5 months. The top of my head...not so good. This area I have been pulling since high school so not surprise that I've done some damage. But I must say that there is new grown where I haven't seen hair in decades, so I'm being patient.
A huge eye opener for me and something that really scared me straight (as far as pulling goes!) is a post on the Recommendations section here, third post down about Hair Regrowth Facts (by crzychk) is really good. When I read that and realized that I was pulling the roots so hard they were not going to grow back I actually thought about what I was doing. What a concept, right?
Thanks for sharing with us!!
Welcome to DS! Everyone here understands the fear that the hair will not grow back. Just keep believing you can do this, and yes, the hair will grow back!
Hang in there, hands down, stay strong, you can do this!
My bald patches tend to disappear in 3 or 4 months. I can grow a decent-looking set of lashes in 2 months, with full results after 3 or 4. I've never pulled out all my brows, so I'm not sure there. Scalp hair goes through a growth cycle that lasts 2 to 6 years, so theoretically, it takes that long for maximum regrowth.
Your hair will probably grow back-- I've known people who've pulled for much longer than you have and still grown all their hair back beautifully. However, if after about a year, you aren't seeing the regrowth you'd like, I would suggest seeing a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss to see if they can give you some kind of medication or treatment to stimulate the growth.
Good luck, and hands down. You can do this! :)
I have felt your way before. I didn't pull for the whole day and I knew that this had to be it. Because I would usually wake up and pull right away. It ended great for me because I learned that I was strong enough to beat TTM and felt so much better about myself. Yes I did reach my goal :) and haven't pulled for many years now.
I pulled for about three years from my scalp and I was really scared that my hair would not grow back. But it did grow back pretty quick possibly three to five months it was covered up.
Congratulations on not pulling for eight days. Keep fighting against it!!!
Good luck :)
