My system is too sensitive for most medications used in dealing with trich, so I take natural medicines to help my body cope with a healthy stress response. I also like to exercise and move my body daily to help control tension, anxiety, and depression this combination really works for me. Working on yourself and finding what brings you joy and comfort is key in the motivation to control the urges. Besides distractions and barriers you really have to have over all well-being in mind to take the best care of yourself as you can. That means finding time to get relaxation daily whether thats sitting in a hot tub for 20 minutes, closing your eyes in a dark room for 20 minutes, or just sitting passively in a natural setting like your backyard or at a park to gaze at how the wind is blowing through the trees or watching a bird- yes, this is a form of relaxation for the body. On occasion I also like to get a massage somewhere- its so worth the money and its so relaxing. Simple stretching is also relaxing- maybe find a Yoga class that offers gentle yoga like Hatha.
If you are interested in the natural herbs or supplements I can pm these to you on your message board.
Hugs...
