I understand how her reaction may upset you but you have told her recently, it is important to remember this woman gave birth to you and now you are saying she did not give birth to a girl but to a boy. It will take time for her adjust to the news
Her attitude has nothing to do with how you see yourself. Would it depress you to see her if you told her your eyes have always been brown but not blue like she thought? Of course not because no matter what she says your eyes will always be brown, right?
Instead of allowing her attitude to depress you, start working on your self image, self acceptance and sense of worth by working on those areas, nothing anyone can say will end up bothering you because the only opinion that matters will be your own.
Hope this helps,
Wolf (FTM since 1987)
Give it time - and don't let it get to you. Remember, you are who you are, no matter what anyone else may say or think.
There's a great book out - for kids, but still a great one - that's all about a crayon that had the wrong label put on it. It's a blue crayon, but it has the red label. No matter what it tried, it was still a blue crayon. Look for that book - it could help your mom come to understand what's going on a bit better. It might also help you deal with things a bit better too.
Just be yourself, give her time, and remember, you're who you are - not who other people may say you are.
