Agreed, not to mention the other risks involved in those meds. Spironolactone is a blood pressure medication that can cause your blood pressure to plummet badly and premarin can increase your risk of blood clots by a very large scale. Very unwise to do without a doctor watching over you.

Wynd I have removed said friend because she basically got defensive and "fucked me off". She said she has done it for 3 years and hasn't shown signs of anything... doesn't mean it can't happen. This girl is 20 or 21. She forgets that I am a postop woman who has been down her road. I also had her mindframe and tried to order online before turning 18. I know where the hell she is coming from, but I am giving her advice from experience, and she is basically ignoring it and saying let's agree to disagree, which means my advice has hit a nerve with her.

She also says she doesn't have money for a doctor. My question is how she doesn't have that kind of money, but has $100 a month to spend on internet hormones.

Told her that since she wants to be an irresponsible child that I had no choice to remove her. I am not gonna sit by and be fucked off just for speaking from experience. If she gets complications, I won't be there to say I told you so.

I don't blame you. Quite honestly even IF she has been doing this for 3 years, once she does get the money to try to get letters and all that, odds are she will be rejected by many therapists as one of the disqualifiers is having taken them without prescription. it shows you can't be trusted with them. that was one of the first questions i was asked when i got my letter and got my prescription, both the therapist and doctor said if I had gone the internet route they wouldn't be willing to grant me them (after i answered of course). She is being foolish, and whether or not she went for 3 years with nothing bad happening, it doesn't mean she is right.

See Wynd you make very valid points. I didn't even think of that because the doctor didn't tell me that if you go the internet route they wouldn't write an Rx. Well I have removed her so I am not even gonna bother telling her that. Even if I did bother she'd ignore it and be foolish.

I mean I don't remember them telling me, it's been since 2008 and my memory is sometimes suckish.

I know the feeling, my memory has gone to hell of late, but i think its just the huge level of stress i have had. I just distinctly remember that item because it was one of the first things he said after discussing the letter, he said he wanted to give it a go because he believed it would increase my mood and i didn't show any of the risk factors. When i asked him which ones, he said they were things like whether or noth there was other issues that may be causing the feelings like sexual abuse or such, having tried to self administer hormones or using prescription ones irresponsibly, suicidal thoughts, drug use.. he went on to list a total of like 10 and when i asked if i had showed signs of them what would that mean, he said, put simply he wouldn't be able to give them to me. the Prescribing doctor corroberated it when i went to see her :P

You know, I'm glad you posted this up. At a point, i had been thinking of just getting pills over the interwebs...I didn't, mostly because i didn't know all that much about it (and I still really don't). But I had put it up as a possible option if and when i was ready to go for it. Seeing what you two have been posting up makes me realize it is a stupid idea. WHY are people even allowed to purchase stuff like that w/out a prescription if it can mess you up so bad? Doesn't the FDA have restrictions on that if it has the capacity to be so detrimental?

Good advice about the warnings of self medicating. I knew a close friend of mine, she was also a DS member, we became good friends by sharing each others phone numbers. Anyway, she explained about herself self-medicating, and then she wound up with blood clots, and was hospitalized.

the catch with any meds is that not all countries have the regulations we do :P so they send out whatever they want. Most of the discount drugs come in by way of china or Canada, occasionally mexico. Why they don't stop it at the boarder I don't know, but they don't. Prolly cause they want the money.

It's all about the Benjamins anymore wynd. I am lucky I am able to get my hormones every month from an Rx instead of self medicating like this girl is doing. I am not gonna be around if the doctors don't write an Rx for her to say "Hey I told you self medicating was bad."
