Getting Clothes

Hey everybody. So I'm wondering how I might go about getting more feminine attire. Right now I pretty much just wear jeans and a t-shirt. I tried a couple weeks ago to order some more women's cut tees along with some mens, but Kohls found it necessary to erase my order history and instead I had to order from my mom's account instead of mine. Then I tried ordering from Penney's but was talked out of it by a friend until I knew how picking up an order worked. See I had a sports bra and a couple tanks in that, and didn't know if maybe they'd ask my mom to confirm the order. I was still able to get a woman's cut tee in there though.

Now, I don't have a job, but I get paid for mowing the lawn and such. And I don't have my own credit card. Also I am not out with really anybody except just some amazing friends I have made here :) I think this is really hindering me, because it's keeping me from like going out and shopping. I don't have any friends around here, and especially none that I could trust. So I don't know. The new tees I got are cute, but I'd like to be able to dress more how I feel ya know? Any advice would be terrific :)

well as long as you can get your sizing right buying online is the easiest option for privacy. You can just get them to mail it to your house? If you are doing an in store pickup then you will be dealing with someone who will give you the items and if its not your name on the order then they will not release them to you. It's really hard to stealth things unless you live alone, or have those you live with's support. Now considering that the account you have with Kolhs having issues, create another account for you. Life will be much simpler that way unless again your mom is cool with everything.

Thanks Wynd, I made my own Kohls account just for that reason, but if you close out, it erases your shopping cart. And I was only at like $50, so my mom wanted to add more stuff to get free shipping. I might try again in a few months.

And thanks Steph :) Only problem with Walmart is that I don't have my own credit card. I'd have to use my moms, and I have this slight fear that she may be able to check and see what I ordered. I will have to check those other sites though so thanks :)

As for sizes. I have talked with a friend, and she suggested going a size up just in case. But while I don't know my cup size, I know my band size. And I tried on a tank of my moms that was 1X and that fit wonderfully. I can only keep my fingers crossed that she decides to get rid of it lol. So I don't know, I'll keep looking, and maybe in a couple months I'll try again. Also I've been told that Old Navy has a lot of shirts you can get for really cheap so I may try there too :)

I don't think you need a credit card to be a member with QVC, in which you'll get a membership card under them, they except money orders:

unless your mom either got the package, or got an e-mail, or got in the account, she won't know what you bought, the only thing the credit card statement would show is that a charge was made by walmart for X amount. WIthout the packing slip, the merchandice, the email confirmation or getting in and looking at an order history, she wouldn't know what was purchased.

Hmm thanks Wynd, I'll keep that in mind. Sometimes she will get into the packages if there's anything in there for her. But my family is going on vacation sometime in August and I'll be staying home, so maybe if I order a week prior I can just avoid her getting the package in the first place.

And thanks Rhonda for the QVC, but money is a tight issue with me. For the most part I'm just trying to save for therapy, and whatever's leftover isn't much lol. Sorry not trying to bring down everyone's help here, but things are complicated around here

Honestly, until I got over my fear of coming out full time, my close friend used to take me to the clothes drop off at night hours, where I picked out the used clothes that I could fit, and then I took the clothes home to wash them, the only cost was to wash them.

Hmm that sounds like a good idea :) I didn't want to post it in a discussion or anything, but I actually came out to my eldest cousin last week, and she was very supportive. Said if I wanted her to go shopping with me or anything like that she'd be happy too. So now all I need is money lol. The $25 I have doesn't really seem like it's gonna cut it.

Yeah I know, but I'm still in the process of losing weight. It would probably be a better idea to hold off on getting a lot of clothes. I'm comfortable now with just the one shirt I have. I wear it to bed every night, and it makes me feel so comfortable when I do :)

well I am doing the same thing, this makes it all the more important to get clothes on the cheap :P I get a lot of my stuff at the good will for that very reason. If I shrink out of something, it can go right back there and I am really not out anything AND its a tax write off :P

Hmmm that is a good idea. I dunno, I guess just because I'm not out and only two people in town know about me, 1 being my therapist lol, I guess I just feel a bit more awkward shopping for clothes in stores, so I try to stay more online. Walmart and even Old Navy have a lot of great stuff for only a couple bucks that I could get. I'll have to wait around August when school is starting back up before I go out and get more clothes.

Try to check around your hometown area, to see if there are "after hour" stores, this a type of store that opens up close to midnight hours, they basically either sale their clothes at a very low price, that they couldn't sale during the daytime hours, or they try to give them away. Only a some people know about these stores that are open to the LGBTQ community, but are secretive about their locations. If you do find such a store, then it would be a good idea to bring along a trusted friend with you, due to the late midnight hours, you don't want to be on the streets walking back alone.

Oh wow really? Guess they are secretive cause I haven't heard of any around here lol Only place I know of here that is open late is Walmart. I have some people I could ask and see if they know about anything like that. But thanks for the input Rhonda :)
