I'd unfriend her, but then again I value meaningful relationships more than someone who acts like your friend did. It's ultimately up to you. She may defend someone who is in the wrong again, I dunno, but if it was me, I wouldn't chance it.

It's a hard decision to make. Your friend wasn't the one who made the post but was defending the person who did. It sounds like the person made the post with a mean and malicious spirit with the sole purpose of having fun at your expense. If this is the case, I don't see how or what your friend could be defending. We know not everyone will share or agree with the things we post: our opinions, thoughts and beliefs. But I think we do assume that we won't be attacked, ridiculed or treated badly by our online / social media "friends." If it were me, I would have to ask myself a couple of things. How is this friendship serving me and my life. Do I benefit with a mutual respect, understanding and companionship. How I would be affected if I did unfriend this person, would I be OK with them gone. If I'm not, then would I be OK with this type of online activity and behavior from them. If this is on Facebook, you could try just blocking her for a while and see. You can also change or limit your interactions with this person. I hope you find resolution and peace with this situation.

FaceBook is really bad about how people tend to act without thinking or caring who their deeds might hurt.

I tend to be very careful who I let in as friends there, and what sort of things I will accept or tolerate before I will block or even unfriend someone there. Most times, I find they never even notice I unfriended them - so not really my friend to begin with, right?

I rarely share anything of direct connection to myself on FB, because so many employers like to "investigate" their employees' FB pages; the less there is for them to find the better.

Thanks everyone for your advice, while some of you were in the progress of responding to this post, I've relied on my inter wishing and unfriended her, she had more than 400 friends I don't think she would of noticed that I unfriended her. Anyway, also removed her from my created groups so she didn't try to harass other members. Anyway, I started to feel good about myself that I've made the right choice, moments later the rest of my remaining online friends began to reply wondering why I stopped posting. Things are back on track now.

Rhonda, if this person was truly your friend they would stick up for you whether it was another friend or not bullying you. That person showed you there true colors BEFORE the other person commented. Don't let the person's transgendered label be their excuse for it not being bullying. I always look at the situation like this; if you and your friend were out in public and someone started making slurs, would your "friend" be there for you as I'm sure you would be there for them? If the answer is NO then the ball is in your court.
When I lived in NY, I HAD a "friend" whom was a biological female tell random strangers who were hitting on me at a str8 bar that I was trans. When she didn't understand why I was upset, I knew that friendship was over. I was not going to allow myself to knowingly be the token transgendered friend to someone who puts our safety at risk.
