I first met my fianc junior year in high school. We played softball together and became really good friends. Weve now known each other for about 8 years. Two years ago it became very clear to me that I also liked girls. I am a female and started identifying as being bisexual. My friend at the time was female also. I had only dated men my whole life, granted Im only 23 so it hasnt been that long. I was crushing hard but was so scared of telling her. I wasnt positive if she was into girls and I didnt want to ruin our friendship. The summer of 2014 I finally had the guts to tell her! I ask if we could talk one night and it turns out that she too needed to talk to me. I let her go first and her news surprised me a little bit. She told me that she had never been comfortable in her body and that she had chosen to transition to male because she truly believed it was who she was. At that point I didnt think it was right that I share my feelings because I didnt want to add stress to things. I kept it to myself and decided to endure on this journey with HIM . I started going to therapy appointments with him and even helped pick out his new name. He started the hormones a few months later. He was in a rough place emotionally and mentally at times. We had a heart to heart one night and he asked if anyone would ever want to be with him or would ever love him for him? I kind of spilled the beans with my feelings for him. Even with his changes going on my feelings had not changed! I fell for Cassie but ended up falling even more for Michael. I got to see him flourish and become comfortable with who he truly was. I couldnt be more proud of him! We started dating and after a year he proposed! Weve been together for a year and half now and live together! We are getting married this September. It hasnt been easy by any means. My family does not approve and kicked me out of the house. They also want nothing to do with the wedding. I never thought that would happen. It has been harder on us than most I would say. That kind of thing puts a lot of stress on a relationship. Through all of the ups and downs we have come out on top! It has made us stronger and I couldnt have gotten through it with anyone else. To me, Michael is all the man I need. Our friends accept him 100% and people who meet him for the first time have no idea he was born a female. Ive realized family isnt blood and anyone who has supported us or continues to support us is MY family. I love that Ive been able to watch him blossom into this person who is so handsome, caring, loving, and overall good person. If theres anything I can tell you it would be to not give up! I truly believe there is someone for everyone in this world.

Oh WOW, thankyou for sharing your success story with all of us. You both are truly an inspiration for us all, that love is possible. I am sorry that your family couldn't accept the situation, but that is pretty typical, most families tend to frown upon transgender, because they see anything that is strange as possible serial killer. Its really bleeped up. Its easier to pass down judgement then it is to truly get to know someone. I was most recently judged by somebody here on DS and they know who they are. It was their first and last mistake, because they will never get to be my friend again.

We must always hang around those who's energies vibrate at the same level as our own. When a personality meshes, you will see real quickly how more peaceful the friendship or relationship is, vs when your with someone who clashes. I am so very glad that you both found each other. And that thought his news to you came at a surprise, the transitioned ended up bonding you both closer then you would have ever been before.

You see, thats the way families should look at the transgender. Don't pass down judgement because what you perceive as being strange is an absolute deal breaker. Look at it as a bonding possibility. Because even given the chance, you might find, that with everything that person has gone through in life, you will find a more deeper respect for that person in the long run.
