In the awake of getting my name change done legally, I've also been doing some online research, about finding the answer to my question, about how long does it take between the parent(s) and the delivery staff from signing away the baby's gender marker on the birth certificate? Almost most of the websites that I've gone to, states "right away". Here is were I have a problem with this.. I think there should be a law created that will delay the parents and the delivery staff from making quick decisions about the baby's gender after childbirth, and wait until puberty, if the child feels comfortable with their gender, and start to take on the roll of their birth gender, without no reasons or evidence that would indicate the possibility of an intersex condition.. otherwise then the parent(s) can sign away the gender marker of their child, on the birth certificate. Yes, I had brought this up in discussion in person at a lgbtq support group meeting, and some agreed at the idea of making it a law seem peachy, but it also has conflicts with the present laws that demands for the gender marker on the birth certificate to be signed right away, in order for the delivery staff to treat the baby with the right types of medications and care after childbirth.
