This community is dedicated to those afflicted with a tic disorder. A tic disorder is one in which uncontrollable muscle spasms that can range from small annoyances to major disruptive occurrences. .
I was wondering how those with tics and tourettes cope with working. I'd love to hear everyone's experiences on how they cope/coped with painful tics and trying to get to work with them. My son is 16 with ts and currently has a very painful neck tic. As the weather warms up so does his ticcing. He is having difficulty trying to get to work with the pain his tics are causing. How do you all cope? Also, do you all go through a disability employment network to get a job or do you just apply yourselves and explain to the boss about your condition? Thanks in advance for you answers.
One suggestion, do you have any business connections within your network of family and friends where he could get a job there during these hard times for him. That could alleviate some stress which can exacerbate the tics.
Or maybe, he could start a part-time lawn business, so he is his own boss and has some control while making money.
