This community is dedicated to those afflicted with a tic disorder. A tic disorder is one in which uncontrollable muscle spasms that can range from small annoyances to major disruptive occurrences. .
Apologies if this has been discussed before, I can't quite seem to figure out how to use the Search function to search a particular forum.
I still don't know nearly enough about this subject, but I was amazed recently when I began looking things up after suspecting I may have Tourette's, at how much Streptococcal infection (Group A Strep specifically) seems to be associated with this condintion, after I was tipped off to it by Wikipedia. I've been at least three and a half years complaining to doctors about what looks like a Group A Strep skin infection in my pelvic area, I was even treated for it once in urgent care a few years ago when it became acute, but they just don't seem to have gotten all the infection out so it staged a comeback, and I about have to bend over backwards to keep it from flaring up and becoming urgent.
The doctors have basically been saying, "Come back and see us if it turns into an emergency again" but can't seem to be bothered with it much when it isn't urgent. The rest of the time they look at my skin, and say "Yup, you've definitely got an infection" and then proceed to do absolutely nothing about it unless it's a huge raging abscess that's growing by leaps and bounds.
Does anyone know more about this subject of tics and infections? Maybe someone's navigated the same maze before that I'm trying to now and has some insights to offer?

However, these results have not been confirmed by other reports (Loiselle et al., 2003; Luo et al., 2004; Morshed et al., 2001; Singer et al., 1998).
It has also been reported that patients with tic disorders and/or OCD have responded positively to antibiotic treatment, antibiotic prophylaxis, and plasma exchange treatment (Mell et al., 2005; Perlmutter et al., 1999; Perrin et al., 2004; Snider et al., 2005)."
