Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ syndrome, is an acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the lower jaw to the skull. The disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment.

I tried the chiropractor ones, that are foam and mold into your neck for about 5 months and I seriously think this is what bought on my TMJ now. I got this pillow before I realised I had TMJ, for my neck pains and then my jaw dislocated a month later. So now I am back to a normal pillow and loving it and sleeping better.
I'm happy your old pillow is working for you, I know it's sooo hard to find the right one.
What are they going to do for your dislocation?
Good luck my friend!!!!!
I have been using a water pillow for just over a year, and I truly love it! Even if you don't have TMJ or neck pain- I would totally reccomend it. It is like $40...I got mine from a chiropractor- but my husband steals it if I'm not home...it's a beautiful thing. And you add the water, so it is very customizable...(if that's a word!!) :o) Good luck!
Does anyone have any recomendations for sleep positions? I heard sleeping on your back was best for TMJ which sucks as I'm a side sleeper too, its so difficult to sleep on my back but the times I've tried it I've woken up in the same position so atleast that means I don't move about much.
Also how many pillows would you recomend? I sleep with 2 supporting my head, do you think thats too high?
