Im trying an unconventional self help treatment for TMJ dubed "The Taste Based Approach" for want of a better name, its supposed to alert you to when you grind or clench your teeth by attaching a small pouch full of spicy liquid to your mouthpeice. When you clench the bags burst and wake you up.
Its day 3 now and I gotta say I'm finding this realy difficult, for some reason having them in my mouth makes me produce loads of saliva which is obviously anoying when your trying to sleep, then when i eventualy do manage to drift off... CLENCH and the pouches wake me up again...
Atleast this shows that I start clenching right from when i start to sleep so its no wonder my jaw feels this bad, im basicaly clenching right through my 7 hours of sleep!
After I've burst 2 pouches I've usualy had enough and switch to my normal mouthguard, this happened last night and my jaw feels just as bad as it usualy does. The treatment is supposed to have an effect after just 2 weeks but Im starting to wonder whether its effective for someone like me who clenches to this extent, if I put in new patches everytime they burst I wouldnt get any sleep.
I doubt anyone here has tried this treatment as it's definitley one of the lesser known ones?

Sorry, never heard of it, Marshmalo. I'm curious though--how does it work and what sort of treatment does it bring to you? Are the spices supposed to heal you or is it suppose to stop you from your clenching habit? Cheers.

ive read that article that breaks down all the bruxism treatments. That taste deal is kind of a biofeedback device. they have the headbands too that wake you up if you start to clench. worth a try. for me, i would just rip it off in my sleep. Best bet is to get an NTI and get some stress management steps and lifestyle adjustments. i know when im pissed and frustrated things just get worse. let us know how it goes.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
