Thanks Shirley...Just got back from MD he gave me Ativan 0.5 mg 1-2 tabs every evening...will try it tonight.

I have the cricket sound as well as the piercing whistling tones-the latter are what incapacitate me...the crickets are heaven compared as they are so easy to put into the background. I also have a weird warbling sound that is only audible if I put my fingers in my ears and wait...
Its almost as if I have a layer upon layer of tinnitus.

Anyways, Klonopin is the more stronger Benzo for the same amount of pill (if I recall correctly).
Its also a lot more long lasting, it binds more tightly to GABA receptors. So if you need a short acting fix, Xanax could be the choice. Again, I could be speaking nonsense, so talk to your doc. Both drugs (benzos) are not recommended for long term use - but I think you know that being a nurse.

Do you need this for sleep or just general anxiety?

Hi Danny! just for sleep for now...My MD want me to try this one first he said Xanax is habit forming? He also prescribed me Bactrim for my kidney stones...any input regarding this Anti biotic? haven't started it yet planning to start tomorrow AM so that if my ringing exacerbates at least I have all day to get it out my system...

I don't think you should worry about taking Bactrim, the T side effect is extreeeemley rare, and if any, its very temporary!

Ativan works very well for some, but in clinical trials printed in the ATA magazine, both Xanax and Klonopin actually reduced the VOLUME of most participants' T (like 76% of participants, if I recall). If you don't find the Ativan reduces your T volume at all, maybe try one of the others.

Like Danny said, Klono binds more tightly to GABA receptors, which is why it is so often prescribed by people who work with T patients.

I use .5 mg Ativan at night. It isnt a high dose at all. If it helps your nerves with this that's good. It's up to each one of us to do what we can for ourselves regardless of what anyone else may think about it's potential for addiction, making your t worse, or what not. If it helps you, it helps you.
