Acupuncture will relax you, but never reduce my Tinnitus.
Sound therapy is what will help you TRT, your make your own sound track,
Moses Lang CD I believe you can get from the American Tinnitus Association.
Contact them, they can be very helpful.
If it persists, get some klonopin to help relax you. Only take when your really need it.
Exercise, stress can really set it off.
Watch what you are eating. To much caffeine, salt, chocolates, alcohol, smoking, can make it worse.
Thanks for your note; I'll try that.
damn it.
I wish these so called scientists would do something to help us....they just seem to talk about what causes it and that they think they know what it is. Damn it.......find a damn cure you friken frankenstiens.
I feel your pain. I also pray to Jesus as his portrait hangs in my room facing my bed. I sit at the edge of bed every morning and i repeat to him...dear Jesus, my father, i will endure this hell if for you. I will suffer and carry my cross as you did. But dear Jesus, please shine down on me and my fellow sufferers and give us relief and renowned hope. Please Jesus get me and my fellow sufferers through this day with the minimum negative impact from this devil that found his way within.
Michealla, i know you are strong....i have read your posts. I looked to you for support. And now i hope to be there to support you. Please hang in there. We must remain strong for each other. that is what this board is for. I believe that as you said it,,,,,we wait our turn at the Weaper to come, but better i think is that we continue to wait until we show the devil we have pushed him out from within.
Thank you.
Ive tried pretty much anything and everything in the hopes of relief/cure from the relentless 24x7 ringing. Ive found over time the only thing that seems to help, for me anyway, is diet. Try experimenting with that. For me, certain types vegetables, chocolate, too much coffee, too much alcohol, sugar, salt, some spaghetti sauces, etc. seem to make my perception of the tinnitus worse. A few beers at night help me cope but I need to be careful as too many beers will make my perception of the tinnitus worse. I use the word perception because, to me, thats exactly what it is. My tinnitus doesnt seem to get louder or quieter, but rather its how my mind perceives it which is how Im able to deal with it. On good days Im okay but on bad days I have hyperacusis as a result, and at times its so bad that my voice seems to reverberate in my head on top of hyperacusis -- bottom line , no matter what, the volume seems to remain the same. I stay away from benzos (bad stuff) but do take 5MG of Ambien to sleep a few times a week. Supposedly Ambien isnt addictive but that can be disputed. Some say it (Ambien) makes the tinnitus worse but for me that doesnt seem to be the case as lack of sleep is a trigger that outweighs that possibility. All that said and given your tinnitus used to be a slight ringing, could the change in your tinnitus be due to a change in your diet? As for sleep, that can make things worse as well; its all a vicious cycle. I wish you luck and hope things get better for you.
Like you I have a bit of hypercusis as well, or as I have been told it is a form of it. They call mine reactive, as noise brings mine up.
I find stress, sinus issues, too much caffeine and some meds will make things worse. I used to have on and off good days, but I now have it mostly 24/7. My tinnitus can be low in the morning and can be high in the evening.
I have learned that distraction helps, and I have sort of just made the sounds part of my body, like many people do when they must live with something difficult.
There is no wonder drug, but yes there are some mentioned that can help with sleep and stress, especially at first.
I found keeping my mind as busy as possible, exercising, and watching what I eat and eliminating stress is key.
And then just time, at least for me.
Utilizing some of the newer sound treatments have worked for many on here as well.
God bless,
Sandy
By sharing our experience with how this dreadful condition affects us we learn from each other that we are not the only ones and that others suffer in much the same with as we do. It is not for everyone as you claimed it to be very depressing. Perhaps you need to take a vacation from this board for a while. We will still be here when you feel you had a bad day and would like to talk to us.
Muscle Boy is correct.
This board goes both ways, people need to express how they feel, so others can help.
On the switch side, there is a lot of good information that has been passed along over the years.
Take it in stride.
