Holy shitake mushroom, this is exactly what's been going on here... I had exposure to very loud sound for an hour+ and for days i've had the transforming whine in my head.. it's gone down somewhat, but it's still there.. i totally forgot about it.. like you, was used to just a low buzz in my ear, not the entire vibration.

This is the key to what i believe 'tinnitus is ruining my life' vs. 'i got used to it, it barely bothers me anymore'.

Being slightly sadistic i'm happy to know i'm not the only one dealing with this right now! hahaha just kdding :) hope you get better.... i usually get better with magnesium/zinc.. will keep trying.

anyone have any comments on the transformer/whining sensation vs. just a buzz in the eart?

For me it's like an electrical whining in the head. Have you ever been by a flourescent light the whines or has a buzz? It feels like it fills up my whole head with whining electricity...like it's more than a noise it's a feeling too....a vibration. I wonder if I could get used to it. I don't know.

It's a bit quieter today, more in my ears which is more tolerable. Neilster how much magnesium/zinc do you take?

animalove, ok that is kinda what I thought. I have the same sensation. I get it all over my head, neck when I move etc...more than just hearing something in the ear, very annoying and yes hard to adjust to even during the quieter days.

Sorry to hear you have this kind of T too. Let me know if you find anything that helps and I'll do the same in turn. Hope you have quiet days and nights.

I haven't found the combination that works all the time though I have been experimenting much so it is hard to reach a definitive conclusion. I did have 2 very quiet days last week in a row to the point I thought it was going away but then it went up again. I am not sure if it was due to less stress or better sleep those 2 days or that it increased because I ate some cake the night before. For the most part, I can sleep fairly well now though I still have panic attacks about my T at least once a night. Usually, I can fall back asleep though. I have had T for 2 months now.

The only things I am taking now besides b-vitamins, fish oils, magnesium daily are 5HTP and occasionally melatonin.

I have a "transformer" in my head, too. It is constant, both ears.
I also have a loud roar in my left ear that comes and goes.
I also have a bell ringer in my right ear that comes and goes.

I have Superior Canal Dehiscence, too. My head feels like an echo chamber. I hear my eyeballs move (sounds like sandpaper on wood). I hear my sinuses draining. I hear my knee popping -- like a gunshot.

Noise makes me feel dizzy -- not vertigo dizzy, but floating head dizzy. I am off balance sometimes.

I had skull base surgery last year to try to fix it -- it didn't work.

They say Superior Canal Dehiscence affects 2% of the population, but not all people with dehiscence (hole in the bone) have symptoms. You should Google "Superior Canal Dehiscence" and see if your symptoms fit. I personally believe it affects more of the population than they think it does.

MyT is the same.. A 12k electrical whine that rotates and oscillates... its awful.....

I have that kind of T on some days. It's in the middle of my brain rather than my ears, and I describe it to the hubs as a florescent light, an old TV tube warming up, or a swarm of locusts making their sort of "electric" sound in my head.

Now I just refer to it as "brain buzz" and he knows just what I am talking about. I get the brain buzz less frequently than I used to since taking Trileptal.
