I am new to this support group and hope to get some help and detail some of my tinnitus history. It is a nasty thing to deal with, actually the worst I ever had to live with. I have some sleep apnea that may or may not be related. It seems to "reboot" itself upon awakening, even if it was a quiet day.
I do believe t is tied to sleep in some way.
Dr. Jastreboff--inventor of TRT--could not even explain the louder T after napping or sometimes overnight sleep, and he researched T for decades! His best guess is it had to do something with iron levels in the blood after sleep, but I've set my T off just by dozing for a minute, so that theory doesn't seem to fit.
I am sorry your Tinnitus is bothering you more lately. I have had very high Tinnitus for 1 year now (almost exactly). I tried just about everything and what finally worked was just not focusing on it. I am convinced it is the only thing that really works. You have to emotionally detach from it and then you will hardly notice it. I sometimes go a whole day without noticing it or hearing it at all.
I wish there was a cure but I think that keeping yourself busy and occupied is the best cure of all. It's a bit of a blessing in a way, I am more productive now than I have been in a very long time.
Best
Frank
