You are grieving the loss of silence - you are grieving the loss of part of your health and a doctor - an MD - told you it is permanent.
Get support from this board.
Also get proactive - Until I got proactive - I'm doing TRT - I felt so terrible
I had to start batting for myself and getting proactive
I had to accept that I will never have silence until they get a cure
It took me three years to come to terms with this.
People lost patience with me - I wouldn't go out and I became reclusive - lost all my friends.
I am still reclusive right now - but I am starting to step out again.
I had to allow myself to cry and grieve my loss - and though people mocked me and said "you didn't lose your legs" I had to see that yes, silence was wonderful and the ringing is louder than my TV
I got really really sad and I wept - I wept in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep through the night anymore
I am doing TRT - I take a sleep aid to make sure I get eight hours of sleep - this enables me to handle the stress of tinnitus - if I get only five hours or three hours of sleep - I get angry easily and it seems louder - like I'm in a fog and it's worse.
Investigate your TMJ issues - we all hope that this is your road to freedom.
My husband experienced the fullness you described and had high pitched tinnitus - he had to get his allergies under control and then it went away - it took him close to a year - he just had too much fluid in his nasal cavities and in his ears -
He had to get on steroids and inhalers and fix that.
I am happy for him - wish that could have been me
but I lost half my hearing - so doc tells me this is my fate.
I grieved the loss of my hearing - I cried and wondered why over and over and thought of every drug, every food, every drink - banging my head against the wall for why?
Had to make peace that I will not get to why - I have hearing aids to hear
Drive two hours each way for my audiologist -
It's hard - you need understanding and support and friends -
God bless you buddy and talk to us - we will talk to you.
I am just hoping your dentist can fix you.
Xanax and gabapentin lower my tinnitus - I take really low doses four times a day - .25 mg four times a day xanax and like 150 mg gabapentin four times a day - really lowers it - but not a cure.
I see a really good Psych - she supports me with the meds and monitors my butt so I don't become an addict and end up on Intervention or something. On loud days, ONE beer settles me a little - makes it seem a little more distant - but I have to monitor that as I have those serious meds - but I do everything controlled - so I don't wake up dead or something.
But little things help lower it - you have to search for what will work for you. I tell my psych - hey, I need xanax for my nerves - I panic easily - get stressed easily - and she says okay, I'll treat that - and then she says low doses of gabapentin usually won't hurt a person..
Gaba seems to intensify the xanax just enough to lower it some
I have really good docs - but I had to shop for them -
I had to go to bat for myself - and get a better self - had to work for it.
I know HOW YOU FEEL RIGHT NOW - I really do. Best wishes to you dude.
When things get really bad, I mask as much as I can with white/pink noise or water sounds on my ipod.
Nortryptaline is supposed to help with depression AND lower T. Maybe ask your psych about that, too?
