I don't know if there is a minimum donation (if so - not much). They send you the ATA magazine quartely and I believe a portion of your donation goes to research.

I didn't notice until you mentioned it, but there are a few other potentially helpful devices available through hear usa... I wonder how well that "simplicity tranquil" device might work? Kinda steep at 500 bucks but it looks and sounds intriguing.

The Tinnitus Distractor sounds more reasonable, but does it work? There are allot of things on the market that claim they help but are a waste of money.

The "simplicity tranquil" looks a little like the white noise maskers that cost me 1500.00/ea.

It helped me a lot, and the one advertised in the ATA for $99 is the same one you can get from HearUSA for $150. I bought one from each place (lost one) and they turned out to be identical. It distracts me from the ringing when I just can't take it anymore. For $99, it's a pretty safe bet, especially when there are so many places out there offering fixes for steep prices, and tinnitus is one of those things that is so hard to fix, if it even can be for a particular person.

I bought one from HearUSA almost 12 years ago for $150. It worked perfect for me and it lasted 10 years. Check around cause you can get them much cheaper. Type in "SleepEZE" and see what you come up with. You can usually find one for each ear less than $200 or one for around $100. I was really surprised how well it worked. It just emits a basic white noise that worked very well for me.

Is this the one you are talking about at HearUSA? It says it is no longer available for order, and it says it is non-vented. I would think that would make your T louder.

Anybody have any ideas about this old post? It looks like some got relief from this device but it is no longer available.

Julie, the first distractor I bought from Hearusa was vented and better quality that the one they have sold recently. I bought one from them a couple of years back and it was $160 and it was not vented although the picture showed it was vented. Like I said google Sleepeze and see what you come up with. Maybe the simply tranquil is worth the extra cost.

This Sleepeze device says you can't hear outside sounds when wearing. It's for sleeping with a snorer....do you think this would work for tinnitus?
