I read on one of the discussion posts here that an ENT doctor said "T is the same volume for everyone, it's just that people react differently to it." THIS IS NOT TRUE. As many here know, I've had T for 27+ years. Only for the past year and a half my T has been LOUD (due to loud noise exposure). Two years ago I went days, weeks, months, and years without even thinking about my mild/moderate T. This is because I could hardly hear it. Now it's louder and higher pitched than most if not all other sounds.

I believe this is because that there is no proven cure for T, so the standard ENT response is "go home and learn to live with it." In the defense of the ENT, they have other conditions that they can treat and cure so T is not something they spend too much time on...

If the ENT said that T is the same volume for everybody, he is either ignorant or talking rubbish. I think they are basically lost when it comes to tinnitus. They don't know the mechanisms of tinnitus so I guess it is easy for them to dismiss it as an inconvenience to the patient rather than an affliction that has some fairly serious consequences.
