I do not want to jinx myself, but if you would read my last topic below, Blood Pressure Lowering Drugs, you will read that I quit taking Zestril (lisinopril) almost 2 weeks ago. I have had 2 days straight with almost no ringing. I do not even have the loud ringing after waking up like I did almost every time I would wake up. The shorter the sleep the louder the ringing used to be. I really thing Zestril was causing my ringing all along and my doctor had doubled my dose knowing that I was suffering from tinnitus. Doctors could care less, and they will never admit that it is a drug, especially if it is one they prescribed. I am not advocating anyone quit the BP medication as I did without consulting your doctor. But, research ACE inhibitor drugs. These drugs stop an enzyme that raises BP and in the process lowers your heart rate. I was also prescribed a diuretic, Hydrochlorothiazide, and these two drugs lowered my blood pressure so much that I almost passed out on January 16th. I took my pressure and it was down to 90/50 and my heart rate was around 50. I have been taking Zestril for over 10 years and believe damage has been done to my hearing, and the ringing may not stop completely. But, I would take the last 2 days if this is as good as it gets.
I will keep you posted on my progress. If I keep getting better, I do not have far to go. I should also say that I have been doing TRT since last July and this is helped me cope. But, the ringing had leveled to a constant steady ring until I quit the Zestril and hydrochlorothiazide.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

I can't believe I haven't gotten much response from this posting. If I were you I would be at the doctor's office when the office opens in the morning and find another BP lowering drug that is not an ACE inhibitor. I am 100% confident that lisinopril (Zestril) was making my tinnitus worse if not the cause. I was taking so many drugs when my ringing started that it could have been a combination of drugs or it could have been the Zestril. I had just started taking twice the dose I was taking and my doctor knowing I was struggling with tinnitus wanted me to take 4 times what I was taking. This should be criminal. I plan on changing doctors after the next appointment. I want to make sure the doctor knows what he helped put me through. Doctors apparently don't care if you take you own life or have no life. This condition has changed my opinion of the medical establishment to be very negative. Doctors are in with all the drug companies and protect them for litiagation by telling their patients that it could not be a drug that caused their tinnitus knowing full well that they are lying to you. My ringing is about 25% of what it was 2 weeks ago, and I will never go back on Zestril or trust any doctor again.
