If you catch this thread, Phil, I'm still have the same question I had 6 months ago if you can set me straight on this.
In brief: Commercial SCENAR devices simply emit trancutaneous electricity. The type of electricity SCENAR devices employ is precisely the same type of electricity generated by a TENS unit (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator).
I've don't understand why you stress the SCENAR brand of devices as you do. The only thing I can think of is it's what worked for you, it's what you know, so it's what your researching and sharing with others. And thats fantastic. But don't forget electricity is electricity and SCENAR is but one way to skin a cat.
Aside from the plastic housing, LCD feedback display, and other material options, TENS is precisely the same therapy and could be adapted to a probe and placed in an ear canal all the same. Thans for your thoughts when you can.
Good question and I will try to answer it as best I can.
The are several reasons for the apparently low level acceptance of scenar at the moment. You can read up more about this on the ISTA website.
It is currently registered as a pain reliever, and people may feel reticent about coming forward with its true potential at this stage. There has been a battle in recent years between the few major players within scenar, the companies who make the various devices that are classed as scenar. There battle has focused on who has the right to provide teaching and manufacturing. They seem to have been focused on improving their devices to a standard to which they are satisfied. This has mainly been carried out in Russia, Eastern and some of Western Europe. It is only now seeping through more into the UK, USA and Canada. I am in the first year of ISTA UK students, this is the first time the course has run. There has been other trainers, but they are the recognised offical body which focuses on the RITM products, which includes the 97.4 and NT series. This really is only the beginning for scenar, although it has been around a few years, it hasn't been marketed well, I think it is just that the old communist block have a different way of doing things. I believe they have also struggled with understanding our laws, and our ways of doing things, their medical laws are very different and things are more easy going medically because they are more in tune with eastern medicine than the western pharmaceutical culture. I think they have preferred to stay within their known boundaries until they know where they legally stand with this thing. This thing is a bit of little miracle, and they know this, but I think they are very wary and protective about it, and they don't want it to get a bad reputation in case someone misuses it. Those who oppose energetic medicine, which will be drug companies, and those funded by drug companies, will jump on anything that could show it in a bad light to discredit it. The devices can be misused if someone is not trained well enough, which is why training is important and why they have kept things fairly small, so they can maintain control. In my defence, although I have recommended devices to people, and some have recently bought them, although they are not trained, I have given them enough information to ensure they act responsibly and I have stated that they are not permitted to go round treating others without proper training, which I am not (yet) offering. The devices they have bought are for their own use.
Hi Snowrider
I did answer that question a while ago

I AM VERY VERY INTERESTED IN JOINING THIS COURSE .
THANK YOU
Madonna was just one example of someone who mistakenly took Zeph's word literally and perhaps allowed hope to exceede the reailty that no one, aside from Zeph, to this day has ben cured by a scenar device.
With that said, I know in my gut that electricity is the answer in treating tinnitus on some level and look forward to apply Philip's knowledge to my own. Thanks for addressing my TENS question, Phil.
If you can refine your technique to a point that you're able to successfully cure even 5% of the total number of sufferers that are treated by you or other scenar practitioner you'd be doing better than any other therapy available today.
neromonics is a commercial effort ostensibly claiming "90% success". The patient doesn't learn that "90% success" is ambiguously worded, non scientific sales vocabulary until they've spent 5 grand on the treatment. it may work for some, but still, even june of 2008, I don't personally know anyone who's truly benefited from it.
TRT (among the traditional therapies) still stands as the one therapy I do know for fact has truly helped sufferers in an appreciable, no bs, consitent way. But no cures there either.
