I use it when it's cold, always stop when it gets hot.
At three minutes the demag should be warm, at 10 minutes it gets hot. One of the problems some have is knowing if it's working at all because it's so quiet.
When I first used mine I thought I actually got a dud it was so quiet. Then I felt the warmth and heard the slight buzz --but I only heard the slight buzz once the demag was fully inserted in my ear.
I got mine from some spare ebayer named lazer-ware, or lazer-something as I told a1a earlier. It arrived in a flimsy gray sack. The demag was in a white box with bubble wrap taped around it. It works fine, it just took me a minute to figure out that it's really just that quiet.
These ebayers like to charge 10 bucks for 1.50 shipping and pocket the rest. Some of these wingnuts on ebay practically make their living by shipping overcharges.
The warmth/heat is from the circuitry on PCB board inside the unit. The metal bar and wand conduct that heat obviously. I plug mine in, wait 30 seconds then stick 'er in. As long as its warm, not hot, it seems to be ok.
You never know, it may generate a more appreciable affect after 5 mintues but if so, I'd think the difference would be very slight.
I think the warming of the ear canal may bring some therapeutic relief in itself. Maybe it relaxes the muscles and nerves?
I wouldn't want to try it when it's more than comfortably warm.
The point is experimentation. I do think, however, that the demag -like the studied mainstream therapies- requires regular use.
I don't expect the demag to have an appreciable affect on anyone using the device a few times. TRT takes more than a year, Neuromonics takes up to 6 months, and I read one womans journal who had the demag 4 days and said "this damned demag isn't working".
All therapies are going to require consistency and patients in my opinion. I'm using it twice a day, 4 minutes in morning and evening going on 3 weeks now and knowing some very minor benefit. Very minor, but softer
