I know that it's hard to think positive about this hateful T but I'm wishing both you and mairi2 positive results!
After the 1/2 hour of listening to the machine I had a test which says my t was reduced by 8 db's. This is supposed to be over a 50% decrease.
When I took the head phones off my t sounded exactly the same. Either me or this machine is highly inacurate. My t is now as loud if not louder than it's ever been.
The doctor claimed success and when I told him I was no better his answer was something to the effect that my perception was off and because I was so used to hearing my t for so long I just don't realize the benefit yet. I didn't notice his nose growing as he was saying this.
On my first visit on Monday, my t seemed louder that Monday night but Tuesday was a pretty good day where my t didn't seem so bad. The nurse did claim for some it gets worse before it gets better...?
Looks like your gut feeling is that this isn't going to work for you. Sorry to hear that mate.
My sense is your not going to go back on Friday unless today it sounds much lower. I was wondering how they know your tinnitus went down 8 dbl? What did they tell you your decibel loudness was originally? Take care and hope the volume stays down. -Mark
John i really hope this works for you.Winterbridge has a good point how do they know that your T went down 8 dbl. Woudn't that be your decison to say it went down. It's like if they are telling you this so you can beleive it and maybe that will work.I wish you the best.
Quote... "I've always been curious how to measure the volume of a sound that doesn't really exist"(Mark Twain or someone who maybe read 2 1/2 of his books and enjoyed them)
How this is supposedly done is that before you're put to the frequency session you're asked to acknowledge when you hear a particular sound. This is put on a scale. After your frequency session, you're asked to acknowledge the same sound. To pass this test, you hear this particular sound at a lower volume of this sound than you originally heard it. Thus saying, if you heard this sound at a volume #6 before the session and then heard it a volume #3 after the session you would have acheived a 50% reduction. I am suspicious that someone had a toe on the scale behind me after I had my workout session, but I could be very well wrong. I could also have heard a sound when I didn't or didn't percieve a sound when I really did and thwarted the scales.
The best I can say is that Mr. Winterbridge you are perceptive. I'm not going to New York on Friday to pay to hear that my perception of a t increase is actually a t decrease and I just don't know any better.
Fortunately, my t has returned to it's normal level today (Thursday) and this I can live with. Something does bother me furter. Because of my supposed decibel reduction, I'll probably if not certaintly be counted as a success story by this clinic.
Another thing bothers me and I am not making any accusations here, is this. If you are smart and unconcientiable enough to realize that there is a large enough percentage of people that respond to the placebo pills, this is a huge market to feed on. Any chronic sufferer is extremely vulernable to this.
Never extinguish hope, but wolfs are feeding on the sheep.
I'm sorry that the treatment didn't work for you. Thanks for trying it and telling us about it. I hope that they are not just taking peoples money.
Best wishes,
DebTex
