Pete Townsend, Chris Martin, Al Di Meola, Lars Ulrich...all had severe tinnitus, but somehow they keep going on stage (nobody has quit the music biz like some folks on here), while we on tinnitus board have trouble with a kitchen blender, many of us will neve go to a concert ever again, even with plugs.

Well said, Danny! I once was brought to tears by my hubby running a carpet steamer two rooms away!! :( I also almost ran out screaming at the spike caused by the bean grinder at a coffee shop I was in!

If there is a cure we would know about world wide.

Besides, that how much could a real cure actually cost $50,000.

Allot of middle class would pay that, for a real cure.

I have heard of many people getting better, yet my audiologist keeps telling me to get it out of my head that it will go away. No matter what the reason is for my tinnitus, she says once it starts it stays in your brain. These people are not lying. I just don't understand and become more and more discouraged every week I visit the center. Now they want me to try a hearing aid "Zen" so that I can listen to noise that is less bothersome than my tinnitus. The first audiologist who tested my hearing when I first got T told me that sometimes it goes away, even after two years. The audiologist I see now says she should not have told me that.

Julie, the tree trimmers outside with chain saws yesterday caused my tinnitus to spike. They also ruined the trees in my condo complex. I'm hoping this is temporary (the T spike, not the trees -- they are ruined for good).

didiotte, it's very rare, but I have read about a few people who had it go completely away after 5 or 6 years.

dgn58, I would be willing to lose everything I own to have silence and sleep peacefully again. I said that 5 years ago, I'm still saying it today, and I'll be saying it till I die.

Peter Townsend was on the Sandy Relief concert on TV last night which was held at Madison Square Garden. He was performing several songs on guitar. I am pretty sure he was not wearing anything in his ears such as Musician earplugs or such. I was astonished with his Tinnitus condition that he did not protect his airs any while playing.

@Danny, thank you for the bit of encouragement. I personally know people who have told me it went away. They had it under two years but just the same long enough 24/7 just like us and it went away. Why do they tell me it is impossible to go away. No one responded to me about the Zen hearing aids by Widex. This is what they want me to try. I do not near hearing aids to hear. My hearing loss is very very minimal due to my age. Actually they tell me it is almost excellent. These hearing aids can be used for both hearing aid and Zen sounds to ease the T sounds. Anyone hear about them? They are about $1000 a piece. @dgn58 I am going to ask about the TMS if I can find any material in french. I'm in Quebec and can't get too much English help.

That's exactly what I meant Di with these performers, they don't give a shit about their tinnitus. And all this time I heard people say how BAD Pete's tinnitus was and how bad he is suffering.
I just don't get it, I give up.
I know I have an incessant loud JET ENGINE in my ears. I hear it riding in the back of a bus.
I am hanging on, but as time passes, instead of accepting the noise, I'm accepting quite an opposite idea.

I noticed quite a number of sufferers interested about TMS lately.
Since its not cheap, I hope somebody who tries it, reports back.
