I read about a test for a blockage of the Eustachian Tube in a book (Tortured by Sound) that Mandie Grace talked about in one of her videos. I have only looked this condition up on a couple of websites and it may be a problem for some of us. I think that the eustachian tube is supposed to stay closed most of the time and the problems occur when the tube stays open or does not open to relieve ear pressure. I think my problem is in my left ear only and my left ear does not pop like my right ear if I hold my nose and blow. I have a 24/7 ringing in my left ear. From what I have read, doctors don't always fix the problems with the eustachian tube. Surgery may help in some cases as well as estrogen nasal drops.
If anyone has this problem, please reply.

no one here has reported the Eustaschean Tube problem , but it may be that no ENT ever mentioned it as a possibility.

Do you have hypercusis in your left ear? Is your hearing fine in your left ear?

have you been checked out yet?

I mentioned Eustachian Tube Dysfunction in Michael Occhipinti's post 'Ear Mystery/Ear Pain' a few days ago. Its something i have been suffing from long before my T ever started. The pressure in my right ear is almost constantly not right. Its either to much or not enough. I've spoken to my ENT about it a few times but he dosent want to operate on it because the procedure usualy results in a loss of hearing to some degree.

I manage this problem with combination nasal inhalers and popping my ears by holding my nose and blowing gently. Sometimes i just cant seem to get the pressure right no matter what i try which is very frustrating and it does affect how well i can hear people talking. I tend to find the condition is worse when im slightly dehydrated. All in all it doesnt seem to affect my T much.

I don't know if I have hypercusis or not. Sounds are not magnified, but I don't like to hear the furnace blowing air and it seems my ears pick up on the other noise ringing louder to drown out the other noise. I do believe all my ringing is coming from my left ear. I have an appointment in Nashville for an ENT doctor that is going to do a test on the eustachian tube. The same group does TNT and I will talk to them about that therapy. I have to do something. Thanks for the comments.

I think I have had Eustaschean Tube problems on and off for many years. I have reactive t. which means that sound makes my t. go up.
I am not sure if this is the cause, but many times my ears pop and I am not aware that they were even plugged. I have cronic sinusus, and have had surgeries to open them up and I have alergies.

I had PETS. My ENT said the majority of cases are due to dehydration. I had it for years, but it stopped completely when I started drinking 8 glasses of water a day. A much better (and cheaper) fix than medications or surgery.

If only tinnitus was fixed that easily.
