Next Friday makes one year since my T started on 10/21/2010. I did not think I could live with this thing the first 3 to 4 months. I got my first hearing aids with maskers for the VA in March of this year and have been wearing them since. I drove 700 miles to Philadelphia in July to see Dr. Gail Brenner and she is supposed to be good at TRT. She reprogrammed my VA hearing aids (ReSound), retested my hearing and spent 4 hours with me. I have had ups and downs since then. What has helped me more than anything is staying busy 12 to 15 hours a day. I have gone back to college full time and am working 24 hours a week. I plan to start my own business within the next two months.
Last week was my best week since T began. I had about a 4 day period where I could not hear the ringing at all at times. I even slept without the noise that has been keeping me from sleeping. I even thought that maybe this thing will go away just as quickly as it came on. Then, yesterday shocked me back to reality; it was a bad ringing day. But, today is better and I am looking forward to a good, busy week. I hope I don't give T as much attention in year two as I have the past year. Let's pray for a cure and I hope all that suffer will see some relief.
