I've just completed my first week wearing ear maskers. Things sound a little weird. If there is a bird singing 50 yards away it sounds like it is about 25 feet away. So far, this is a more pleasing sound than the T. I find that they are a help in medium noise situations. They seem to accent higher pitched sounds which really masks well. In quiet situations they are not much help. I have a follow up appointment next week. My audiologist wants to try to match the tinnitus sound better to better mask the sound. If anyone has ever tryed to match the exact pitch of your T, it's like trying to match an exact color of paint but without any color formula. The idea as it was explained to me is that if we can digitally match the T sound at the right volume, it will really help. This audiologist claims that 25% of her patients find this extremely helpful. Others have found it very annoying. Her fees are very reasonable...
