Were you perscribed Neurontin by an ENT or some other Doctor to help with T?

From all I've read, Neurontin has shown no positive results in helping T. Neurontin does help some with nerve pain and the thinking was that T can be caused by damaged nerves in the ear so maybe Neurontin would have some help with T. Clinical trails were done to see if Neurontin would help with T and little or no evidence was found that it helped.

I tryed Neurontin for nerve pain (unrelated to T) and it did not help me. I personally know others who Neurontin has helped with nerve pain. From what I understand, it is a fairly harmless drug that you can take in high dosages.

One thing I forgot to mention...
Neurontin takes several days to weeks until you even start to notice if it is benefiting nerve pain. I would suppose the same would be true for T.

John, Do you think I could take it at night. I have been taking it during the day (900 mg) along with benzo as I read to add. Well,I could not function. Last night before going to bed, I did the toothbrush thing (putting sonicare brush close in the ear you know it makes a loud noise. This morning before I got out of bed, it was so qute until I got up. Do you think it was from the toothbrush thing or neurontin? I'll wait to hear from you. About the dr., i took an article about it to my Psy and I was crying and upset so he said he would try that it would not hurt.

My right ear can;t be now where near a hair dryer.Im sorry Neurontin is not helping. I have only tried xnax which made the T worse if i took high doses of it. I am on valuim now it hasn;t brought the T or the noise down,but it has helped my nerves.I can somewhat cope better before i would just go on a full blowen panic,anxiety attack you name it and i would go thur it.It's weired the T causes STRESS and the STRESS makes T worse.

That's a question for your doctor about when to take meds. I was on xanax for about 6 weeks when I first got bad T. I was supposed to take 1/2 tablet in the morning and the other 1/2 before bed. I was such a zombie when I took it in the morning that I just took the whole tablet at night.
I don't think neurontin is affecting your ability to function.

John, I took one (300) mg this morning and it just made me wobbly. I am supposed to take 900 mg today. That is a lot. I'm so tired to trying all this stuff. I did the toothbrush thing this morning.

I have been on Neurontin for about 3 years... But I might have a little more in the problem field than T... Long story, it's in my journal...
I do find that neurontin helps mirtazapine (Remeron) invoking sleep... If I miss my dose of neurontin and mirtazapine, I have been awake all night... And I mean all night.. Get off salt, caffiene, greasy foods, chocolate, and all those other great foods I used to love..., and don't take aspirins. If you don't believe food will have impact on T, eat a wonderful greasy pizza, It is so good, but really bad for Tinnitus... And by all means see an ENT...

I started taking Ambien two years ago after a car accident screwed up my neck. All other drugs made me feel like a zombie so the Ambien was the only thing that I could take to help me sleep, which in turn helped my muscles relax. It's been about a year since I have taken it again, however. But since the T began two months ago, I found myself back on Ambien to help me sleep. If I don't take it, I am up all night with this ringing in my ears, and with high anxiety. The fan masking does help, but the Ambien knocks me out and I sleep great, not feeling like a zombie in the AM.
