Don't know how soon you'll read this but Thursday, June 2, my mother, Lois, had a stroke. She is not expected to live past a week as the swelling is too great.
Just wanted to share with my DS family
(oddly, my TRT generator in my left ear is not working, so I hear nothing but ringing, but with what all is going on (we're going to Champaign today, Friday, to see her), I don't really care.

Three days before my dad died eight years ago, I felt compelled to go to the little league field where I played and my dad coached me. High in the sky and in a great distance I saw puffed white and orange clouds (after a thunderstorm) and a tiny rainbow only visible to someone who was looking for it. Not a double rainbow that everyone might stop their car to see but a covenant seen only in the corner of your eye. I really learned how to cry and smile at the same time. At my dads request he wanted no one to visit until he got well. His older brother honored this but then showed up to visit two hours before his passing "by chance' and wept as his younger brother died before his eyes.
How often does a 26 year old read the obituary column? For me at that age it was never. One day at a gas station I felt compelled to buy a non-local newspaper. After reading through the sports I glanced at the obituaries. There was the dad of my x-boss that I hadn't seen in many years. We spent many an afternoon together. I wasn't on good terms with the x-boss at this time but went to the viewing anyway. We're on good terms now.
I'm sure we all have similar stories. I'm sorry for your loss.
