With this gene therapy, some of the latest rTMS trials, the positive stories on this site on TRT, Neramexane in phase 3 of clinincal trials (did receive information that this pharamecutical may be available between 2010-2012 if all goes well), etc...
I just read that 1 in 7 in the UK have chronic tinnitus and 1 in 30 in the UK have severe tinnitus. I'd guess it's about the same in the USA (maybe worse). As discouraging as this is, it's definetly getting the attention of medical and scientific community more than ever. I'm encouraged that if not a cure, some signifigant relief is coming soon to ears like yours...

My mom says-
Dr. Dornhoffer, why in the world can their not be a cure found for Tinnitus. My daughter cannot be in your program as she is taking Xanax. Will she be forever doomed to taking medications of this calibur? Is their anyone even trying to find a cure. I pray everyday for this. Please keep trying to find a cure and I am sure our Lord will guide your hand as I have asked him to do so, and I believe. Thanks for listening. Lynn

It is a tough problem for sure. If we are sucessful with TMS she can have it out of the research project, but that is still a year away.
I was raised in such a strict environment that I had grown ups telling me if I did not dogmatically follow everything they say - I was going down the tubes with the rest of the world (i.e. everyone not in our group) These days I feel like I changed alot - I tend to think a bit differently but I still can hear that group in my head - you know like the T - clamoring on and on - I have to just habituate to that too -
