I was very interested to read about aspartame and how they say it can "stimulate" areas of brain activity linked with Tinnitus. I switched from regular Coke (the drink ha ha!) to diet..mainly for the diet weight loss etc and I am under impression that the artificial sweetner is in most diet drinks. I also use aspartame in my tea insted of regular sugar. I am thinking that as I drink a lot of Coke perhaps I am overdosing on Aspartame.?

Maybe time for a complete overhaul in my eating/drinking habits and then if I monitor it perhaps I might be able to post some interesting results. I don't suppose it can hurt.

I cannot consume anything with aspartame because it is one of my triggers. I gave up soda almost a year ago along with "diet" foods that are loaded with artificial sweetners. I also found chewing gum has aspartame, so that is also off of my list. There is a natural sugar out there called Truvia. The nice thing about Truvia is that you don't have to use a lot of it. Honey also works well in place of using sugar in recipes. I guess it comes down to really having to read the food labels to know what you are consuming. It takes a little longer to shop for groceries now, but it really is worth it.

Can't give up my diet coke or my one beer at night or my coffee or the pizza - it looks like I am doomed.

I emailed the company In germany that is developing the acoustic neurostimulator. This was the reply:

The device will be CE-marked (approval in Europe) shortly and we will start marketing in Germany in the next weeks. You will find a list of supporting ENTs as well as our latest clinical data on our website as of end of February. (Treatment requires 3-4 visits to an ENT in a period of at least three months to adjust the neurostimulation program to your specific treatment progress, however.)

Thank you for the information about the aspartame and the hope that maybe there is a new treatment on its way with the neurostimular.
I will be watching for more info. on that.
