I got my lab works and my Vitamin D is 14...normal range 30-50. I also got my audiogram I have Mild high frequency hearing loss...Could my low vitamin D be causing my hearing loss and my tinnitus?

I don't know if there's any correlation. I had low Vitamin D levels, too. I take a 1000 mg. supplement daily, and the vitamin D levels have returned to normal. My tinnitus came way ahead of my vitamin D deficiency. I don't remember if my vitamin D deficiency pre-dates my hearing loss. Interesting question. Now you've got me wondering. I need to go back through some medical records.

@justshoot...actually my PMD prescribed me to take Vit D 2000 units 2 weeks ago but I didn't start because I 'm worried it might spike my "T" ...so is it safe to take it then?

Petloy, I take 5,000 IUs a day and it has no effect on my T. BTW, my last Vit D blood test was around 70 about where many doctors now believe is close to the correct level (or even a little higher). 14 is way too low.

Petloy: I haven't any problem taking Vitamin D supplements. I buy them over the counter. They haven't affected my tinnitus at all. Vitamin D deficiency can cause other health problems, so you should follow your doctor's advice and take them.

If you check Mayo Clinic it is too much Vit D that may cause tinnitus. So who is right?

When my vitamin d was low I took 50,000 IU once a week. No affect on T.
ROZIA
