Welcome aboard! We all have similar stories. Mine is loud, continuos ringing with other sounds that come and go. No hearing loss.

I miss the silence also.

Welcome Reisen 55, mine according to the audiologist is not too loud, only 5db in both ears. But of course I miss the silence. I read your profile, and my only words to you is that even sometimes we fail in whatever we pursue, the most important thing is to be happy. That is a personal decision every day. Even with t, I decide what the day is going to be. I decided to try to get off the noise every morning. It is hard for me still but I am trying. Apparently for you, the noise is not annoying anymore... or is it?

Thanks one and all. It has been sooooo long that I simply adjust to it and drown it out with other noise. Whenever I am tested, I am so good at that, plus not knowing of the condition, that I never mentioned it at all. It is always there, in the background, sometimes quiet or loud. Never goes away.

One good thing: keeps you out of jury duty!!!

I've been suffering with Tinnitus for 5 or 6 Years now. I've found T-gone ( a herbal remedy ) for a year now with good results. I've also found coral calcium helpful. Good luck, MrT123

Clever name - can read between the lines.

It's nice to know there are some people who understand what is going on. I tell others who don't have it and they try to sympathize but they really don't get it. I just read about a woman who went deaf but her tinnitus didn't go away with the hearing loss, so now she only has the ringing. No masker will ever help because she can't hear it. I can't imagine anything worse and I haven't been able to get her off my mind. Like Michangel I try to be positive and enjoy every day. Other than the tinnitus I am very healthy and I realize there are others that are dealing with much more serious issues, so I try to be thankful for that.

There is a woman on youtube who is completely deaf but woke up one day with tinnitus ten years ago - she gives a testimonial of her life on a youtube video - she was courageous to do the film.
