There is a doctor here in the US at the Shea clinic who is doing what your doctor is going to do. He gives lidocaine intraveneously then injects a small amount of lidocaine directly into the ear - usually it is recommended you get only one ear done and then get a hearing test as some people have a reaction and lose more hearing. The Shea clinic is boasting of great results but one US poster said he did the treatment - his tinnitus got worse and ran without looking back. It's hard to tell what will work for each person. Several US studies have suggested that lidocaine intraveneously will put tinnitus to sleep for awhile. It's amazing stuff - but when the IV is discontinued - about 30 minutes later all the patients are saying the tinnitus is back. Now the ear infusion treatment is new and only the Shea clinic is advertising it. My ENTs said run away from intratympanic treatments because they have seen patients lose more hearing and most times get no results - I hope your doctor is really qualified - apparently the Shea clinic here in the US is known around the world for their treatments.

I can't imagine much risk with the IV - your liver and kidneys will probably get rid of anything before it gets to damaging your ears - but the shot in the ears - I don't know.

Be sure to think about the one ear at a time - if you go on the web you can find the Shea Clinic here in the US - they have been treating tinnitus for decades - I am scared for you - I don't want a doctor doing something to your ears that can't be fixed - Mandie

Thank you Mandie for your concern. Actually I think I didnt explain myself well.... sorry, my english is not my mother language and I tend to think in spanish. The treatment is not lidocaine, neither intratimpanic shots of the liquid version of Namenda. This is something really new and probably not found over the internet. This doctor is an especiallist in fixing people when they are paralized from head strokes. I don;t know the name in english but actually I am confident with him since he has helped a lot of people. I will let you know if it was good or a fiasco, anyways I have tried every possible drug available for this T. I will pray every day, lets see what God says about it...

Michangle: Happy to hear it is just an IV - if anyone wants to do ear injections - go one ear at a time and wait - that is what one ENT here told me - they can see what your reaction is to the treatment - through an audiogram and such and also see if you are allergic - I have these darn maskers on now - God help me - it sounds like I am in the shower all the time.
