Bob, it takes time my friend, for the TRT and masking, to take effect.
Trust me, my Tinnitus is as bad as yours. A year ago it got worse, after enjoying 15 years of habituation.
My hearing got worse, plus I was doing everything, I, should not have been doing, for someone who has Tinnitus (that includes smoking pot)
My habituation was so strong, my tinnitus would never bother me, I would actually forget about it, for years on by.
Seriously, 15 years, it never bothered me one bit.
Then one year ago, It woke me up, and knocked me out of bed.
It sounded like jet engines going off in my right ear.
I had to enter a psyche ward for one week, because nothing would put me to sleep.
Bob.TRT therapies, I had to do 15 years ago, and now I am doing them again, with ZEN therapy.
Plus everything else you can imagine. IF you have screaming Tinnitus like I do, or did, because I have improved over the last year, you have to have patience.
I know its not easy, but hearing aids by themselves will make tinnitus go away while youre wearing them, but thats for people who have a mild case of Tinnitus.
Screaming Tinnitus, will take at least a year or better, before you start to see significant results.
But, they will start helping you immediately, but just not exactly to the high expectations, that you have given to yourself.
You will start noticing that the sound of your tinnitus will start being less noticeable.
The problem is 50% say it works and the other 50% say it's a waste of money. I need better odds(much better!)than that for me to get very interested. At least my last ENT said hearing aids($6,000 for the pair)would do nothing to improve my tinnitus.
I know we are all different but so far the most I have spent on anything for my tinnitus was over 11 years ago when I spent $165 for the tinnitus distractor.
It worked and it lasted 10 years. Now all I use is less than $50 MP3 players. For the last 10 months all I have been using is a $20 Coby MP3 player that still uses AAA batteries. Right now I think the answer will be some kind of surgery. THAT I would spend the big bucks for!
I appreciate your concern. honestly I do.
I am just disgusted... Nothing that has helped others has made any difference in my case so far, and I grow weary. and the hopeless feeling grows. I probably should have went with my first impulse, and bought aids with maskers.
I will probably get my money back and try hearing aids with maskers built in... bob
I know that feeling of praying each night for death to come in your sleep. I did that for 6 months!! The next six I didn't do that anymore, but I continued to cry a lot and say, "I can't live like this." Even now at 14 months, I have days when I get really bummed about not having any peace and about how T has changed my life. :(
