I just wrote to . Richard Salvi and Larry Roberts, I want them to tell me about Dr. Winkler, and if they know anything about the TIPA program
I also wrote back to Dr. Winkler, and ask him why nobody seems to be buying the program
I mean come on, why isn't there any comments on the internet about somebody who has recently tried TIPA
Is does not make any sense. And yes I would love to try it, I just want more answers first.
http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/tipa-tinnitus-application/id454930645?mt=8
it says the app is free. I just dont trust my card number with apple.
I put my headphones on and listen to music on my MP3 player at a volume that does not cover my tinnitus. After 10-15 minutes I will increase the volume to where it does cover my tinnitus. After 15-20 minutes when I take my headphones off the tinnitus is greatly reduced.
With luck my tinnitus will stay at that level for the rest of the day. When it doesn't I will listen to my player for the rest of the day with the volume greatly reduced and this is enough to mask my tinnitus. Problems with this is i'm unable to talk to people or listen to the television.
This is where the Moses/Lang Masking CD helps. Track #3 on the CD pretty much matches my tinnitus. I will listen to that and that allows me to talk to people. One thing that I did find out years ago is the brand of headphones that I use does make all the difference in the world.
I use the Sony MDR-W08's. So with the TIPA program I can see why they tell you to use a certain headphone. As far as using only a iPod I have always used Sansa's or Coby MP3 players(that's what i'm using now)and they seem to work just fine.
DarkSon, For what it's worth,I have been buying through the iTunes store for years, apps, music, books, etc. Never had a problem with them. As far as I can tell your credit card # is as safe with Apple as it can be.
Delta, thanks for sharing your technique. I have tried (at the suggestion by a friend with T) to take showers with a thick shower cap on (covering my ears) so that the water hitting it is VERY loud. After about 15-20 minutes, when I get out, my T will often by lower and sometimes (not always) stay lower for some time--but never all day. (My T tends to get louder as the day goes on, so I usually do this in the evening, and it will help anywhere from a 10 minutes to several hours.)
Hi Jim,
The TIPA signal is extremely sensitive to degradation. If you do not have the correct headphones it does not work. Sennheiser HD280PRO are the only headphones I have tested that work. (I have no connection with Sennheiser). I have not tested Bose headphones but the noise cancellation headphones may damage the TIPA signal.
The only way to find out is to try them. If you do not get residual inhibition, try the Sennheisers.
Regards
Peter
They rest inside you ear and there so light you don't know you have them on. Cost is less than $10. They simply work better for me when it comes to masking so if it were me I would stick with what the TIPA system says to use.
