My hearing is perfect, but i've had tinnitus since almost 2 years... none doctor can understand what it is due to, and it's frustrating. They only say ''if you don't have any damage, and you don't, it will go away. Yes, it's easy to say that, but when it will finally go away?? That's a mystery.
The last doctor i saw gave me some pills, they're called ''Trental (pentoxifylline)'', it's a kind of vasodilating, but it's only a try, anybody knows if it will work or not, it's very subjective.
So, is anybody like me? I mean... does anybody has tinnitus but has not any hearing damage?

I only have hearing loss in the upper ranges, 12KHZ-14KHZ. I had to go to a audiologist with special equipment to find that out as most equipment only goes to 8KHZ. There are no natural sounds above 8KHZ so you may too have loss in those upper frequencies. If your tinnitus is a very high pitch that is probably the case as it is for me.

Snap! I got T out of the blue. I had my hearing tested which is completely normal. I am 55 now and got T around my 51st birthday. Year on year it has slowly improved and I now only get the odd day when for no reason it spikes, but I say to myself tomorrow it will be barely audible and that is usually the case. I have a faint ticking sound in one ear which I only ever notice when in bed, but my other ear has a hiss, which has over the years diminished.

That's great that you have SO many good days. I'm getting fewer and fewer as time goes by. I used to get at least 1 a week, now I'm lucky if I get two a month. Very frustrating to say the least.

I've had tests and no detectable hearing loss. I have a slight suspicion that if I did have hearing loss that it would be in the lower frequencies than they normally test for. That's just because my T is very deeply pitched hum.

No measurable hearing loss here. It is entirely possible to get tinnitus with no hearing loss.

I have high pitched hearing los like Suera in the upper range which accounts for the high tinnitus. Nothing matches mine. Im not a candidate for hearing aids since they dont cover that high of a pitch and nothing masks mine. Judy

Hi, Sara: I had tinnitus for around 8 years before I had a hearing loss. My hearing was exceptional when my tinnitus first started. My hearing was so good, in fact, that the ENT I saw for the tinnitus said he'd never seen anyone with hearing as good as mine.

I've had tinnitus for over 11 years, and I suffered my first (sudden) hearing loss only 3 years ago.

Tinnitus can be caused by things other than hearing loss.

I have T with no hearing loss. Mine was caused by medication and I hate it.

Most people myself including with "no measurable hearing loss" probably does have some. It just does not show up on standard tests which only really measure what you need to hear everyday. But the range of human hearing is far greater than the tests for it. Even a small, minute frequency lost in the upper registers can trigger T in some people

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
