I agree with Bob. I did a little research after you posted this and some articles of success were written in 2008, I think we'd have heard more about it by now if it was that successful.

Thank you for the responses on this... I'm concerned, because I've been FLOODED with offers of hearing aids, and lotions and potions that all come down to one thing. PAY ME! this one outfit offered me a great deal on some really high tech hearing aids. Only (because I'm such a nice guy) $6,000 each! Normally they are $11,000.00 I've seen the same ones before for $4,000.00 MSRP. I really hate people sometimes.... They can see us coming from a mile away.
I'm going tomorrow, I'll post my questions and the answers... I don't have high hopes. if you mean what I know.

For me, it would depend on three things:

1. How bad my T was (if it couldn't get any worse, what's there to lose?)
2. Whether the trials were recent (to me 2008 isn't recent) and their rate of success in those trials
3. How much it cost

OK, So my girlfriend and I went to see this Dr. (Dr, Sid Solomon DDS) Dental Wellness. He is the one who does botox. So I/we sat and talked to him for quite a while and it was down to the simple fact that if it help 30 to 70% what is there to lose. I agreed. However, the disclaimer, there is no guarantee. It may do NOTHING. I understood that. I am willing to try, since my T is getting closer to Panic Zone than ever before, So, he felt around my jaw, my head, my neck, shoulders and decided on about 25 or so locations to inject the botox. This would only cost me $580.00 Not bad considering the other things I've been introduced to in recent years. but unfortunatly, $580 might as well be $5,000,000,000 right now. I'll save up, perhaps I wont drive and use any gas for a week....
I still don't know. It did come down to the Money. It always does. But he is in business so I can't blame him for wanting to be paid. So I'll go in in a month or so and see how it works....

i am curious about this. Did he say the Botox injections would have to be repeated? I have a good friend who has used botox for years for a drooping eyelid. (The disease has a name but I cannot recall what it is). it.)Anyway, the botox works for her but has to be repeated every several months. I guess if it helps, it would be worth it.

But on the Tinnitus note, I did not do the Botox. I felt the con's outweighed the Pro's. But the Tinnitus is steadly getting worse and worse, headaches. This is becoming living hell.

My Dr. is going to have me take an MRI soon. Wonder what that'll show.

I am so sorry Mike, I hope that you are okay. Sometimes it is just experimenting with things that make sense. I think getting an MRI especially if you have headaches is a good step.

The good news: Dr. Sol Margzar is a GREAT doctor. I have worked with him over the years on a number of patients and he is the Otolaryngologist I refer to for all my T patients. You are in good hands.

Other good news: There is a possibility that your jaw position has an effect on/is causing your T.

The bad news: STAY AWAY FROM BOTOX. It is Botulism Toxin. It is poisonous, it relieves pain by killing your nerve endings, it is only temporary and if it helps, you will need another round of shots in 3-4 months. If it works, you will be kind of like an addict, needing new injections 3-4 times a year. Don't get started with these kinds of drugs, once you start, you may not be able to stop.....

How about asking for a list of happy clients that will agree to talk to you and answer your questions. OH I know what they'll say, customer confidentiallity and all that but they have got to supply some references or no dice. I find the idea of jaw realignment interesting though. I have wondered if that could play some part in this. Be interesting to hear what you find out.

Tinnitus is a symptom of many causes and conditions. If the Botox works occasionally for Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) or jaw misalignment, then it is only limited to that condition.
