I just read this comment by "budgetboy" on a thread. This needs to be a post not just a comment. I myself have had t for almost 30 years but only the past 2 years has my t been real bad. I would give up several toes and two or three pinky fingers to get rid of my current state of t, but since cutting off my ear (Van Gough) would not help, I best accept this current condition and get on with things. The harder I swim against the current the more likely I am to drown. Speaking from personal experience, a year + ago the big t was devastating to me. Now it's more like a rock in my shoe than a boulder on my shoulders. Here's "budgetboys" comment...
"Don't panic. I woke up with a loud ringing in both ears in January of 2000. It drove me nuts, I could hardly go to work for weeks after. I went to several doctors and had all sorts of hearing tests to conclude that I have permanent tinnitus . The good news is that my brain eventually, after about a year, habituated to the constant noise and I no longer react to it emotionally. It is now only an annoyance to hear it , esp. when I wake up - it is the 1st thing I hear ever morning- but really, it does not bother me at all 95% of the time even though it is soooo loud that it drowns out some sounds altogether and is non-stop. What I am trying to tell you is that in all likelihood your brain will adjust to the sound in a few months and the high anxiety you are feeling will subside to a point that the ringing is a minor nuisance rather than the constant overwhelming torture that it is initially. Our brains have a way of dealing with trauma and will adjust. You will have a happy life regardless of the ringing in your ears. Again, don't panic - just deal with it until your brain has time to adjust."
Thanks for this post budgetboy. Great pictue also, ...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Makes some sense unfornately for me my brain is taking it's sweet time adjusting to the noise. I can say that after finding this site and talking to you guys and being able to read all the do's and don't that has helped my brain some.
I too was like that when i would wake up the first thing i would notice was the ringing.Sometimes i have to talk to myself it doesn't help.talking to you guys is better for me.
The panicing doesn't make things better but it hard to not panic when your ears are ringing.I think panicing made my ears and my mental state of health worse.I think budgetboy has some truth to what he posted.
Thanks Johnk for posting that.
